Airtightness

In modern building physics, airtightness plays a crucial role. A well-sealed building envelope prevents unwanted airflows between indoors and outdoors. This means less energy loss, a better indoor climate, and reduced risk of moisture problems or mold formation.

Why is airtightness important?

  • Energy efficiency: Uncontrolled air leaks cause heat loss in winter and heat gain in summer. Good airtightness reduces energy consumption for heating and cooling.
  • Comfort: Cold drafts and noise from outside are significantly reduced.
  • Prevention of moisture issues: Air leaks can lead to condensation within constructions, with all the associated risks.
  • Performance assurance: For buildings with high sustainability ambitions (such as BENG or Passive House standards), airtight construction is an absolute requirement.

Airtightness testing (Blower Door Test)

With an airtightness test, often referred to as a blower door test, we precisely identify where air leaks occur. This gives you certainty about the actual performance of your building.
